Real Madrid is known for planning ahead, as the Spanish giants are hoping to sign another big name from the NBA next season. A few days ago, it was reported that “The Whites” plan to bring Gabriel Deck back, after the OKC Thunder waived the two-way forward.
Now, Madrid hopes to bring Boston Celtics’ big man Juancho Hernangomez back to Europe next summer, El Mundo’s Lucas Sáez-Bravo reports. Hernangomez has been an end-bench option for the Celtics this season.
He was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, after a tough year with the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2020-21, and last August, he moved to the Boston Celtics via trade in exchange for Kris Dunn, Carsen Edwards, and a 2026 second-round pick.
Hernangomez, 26, has one more year on his non-guaranteed deal worth $7.5M. He only participated in 18 games so far this season, averaging a career-low 1.1 points and 1.4 rebounds in 5.6 minutes per game. He could be another huge addition to Real’s strong frontcourt rotation.
Recently, the Spanish giants agreed to a new three-year deal with Guerschon Yabusele, while they also have Vincent Poirier and Walter Tavares on multi-year deals.
Real is among the top teams in the EuroLeague this season, having the second-best record in the competition with just three losses in 17 games. They are also atop Liga ACB with just one loss in the first 16 rounds.
