Grizzlies showed ‘real version of small ball’ to Lakers, says James Worthy

Lakers head coach Frank Vogel has been using LeBron James as a starting center for quite a few games lately as he implemented a small ball lineup that brought some success to the team.

Most recently, the purple and gold faced the Memphis Grizzlies, who were without their starting center Steven Adams and also employed a small ball lineup and ended up winning the game comfortably.

According to Lakers legend James Worthy, Memphis showed how the real small ball is played. “Memphis.. they’re the real deal. Led by great player Ja [Morant],” he said on Spectrum SportsNet. “They’re very athletic, very athletic. They played the small ball so if the Lakers wanted to see the real version of it, they saw it against Memphis.

“62 points in the paint. A lot of things we talked about that they just could not allow and that was one of them – 62 points in the paint. Grizz get 25 fast break points. We can look at the numbers but it’s just the way Memphis played. And the Lakers, even though they tried to play small ball, they they just couldn’t match up against this team tonight. They’re good team, really good team.”
