Klay Thompson prior to season debut with Warriors: “I know myself, I know how good I am”

Klay Thompson is expected to make his debut with the Golden State Warriors after two years of trial and tribulations. The Warriors’ superstar will make his first appearance since the 2019 NBA Finals on Sunday vs Cleveland.

Thompson, for one, is intent on proving that he’s still his old self. Fueled by being left off the NBA 75 list last year, Thompson said in a recent interview that he’s out for “revenge”.

“I know myself. I know how good I am. I know the things I’ve done. … It’s like — how many times do I have to do something that no one else has ever done before and get respect? Do I have to go score 50 in a quarter now? Like, what the hell? It’s whatever though, man. It’s over with. I’m going to use it as fuel.”

Thompson has been exceptional during his NBA career, helping the Warriors win three championships, before two consecutive season-ending and devastating injuries.

The Warriors wanted Thompson to make his return in front of the home fans at Chase Center. This will be the first time Klay will play an official NBA game at San Francisco.

Steve Kerr has already admitted Thompson will be in the starting lineup immediately upon his return, moving Jordan Poole, who has a career year so far, to the bench.

“I’m excited to get out there and prove to people who I am,” Thompson said. “I know they forgot because I’ve been out for two years, but I’ve never been hungrier seeing that stuff. Never been hungrier. And the best way at revenge is to win. Seriously.”

It’s not clear how much time on the court Thompson will receive Sunday, however even seeing him back in action will be a great sight for shore eyes for the NBA and the Warriors’ fans.
