Lonzo Ball says DeMar DeRozan should win the MVP award

Amid DeMar DeRozan’s incredible season, his Chicago Bulls teammate Lonzo Ball reveals why he selects the veteran swingman for the title of the MVP.

At the start of the offseason, many NBA peers echoed their skepticism over the Bulls acquiring DeRozan, and his fit with Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic.

So far, the Bulls’ superstar is proving his doubters wrong, having an amazing season. Ball believes DeMar should win the regular season’s MVP award this year.

“DeMar has been a star in this league for a long time, and I think this is probably his best year, to me,” Ball told reporters before the game against Magic. “He’s showing everybody that he should definitely be MVP this year.”

The eldest Ball brother further explained how the team felt comfortable with the 6-foot-6 guard having the rock in his hands during clutch situations, as the 4-time All-Star has hit some huge shots this season.

“He’s our go-to guy. We always have faith in him when he has the ball in his hands, and as you can see, he comes through for us pretty much every time,” Ball said. “And he gives everybody kind of that calm demeanor and helps everybody sail the ship to where it needs to go.”

The Bulls are on a tear this season, leading the East. They have a 25-10 record being two games ahead from the Brooklyn Nets and the Milwaukee Bucks.

With more than half of the season remaining, Chicago will have the chance to win the conference and maybe help DeRozan’s case to win his first MVP award.
