Warriors’ HC Steve Kerr says Utah Jazz are getting overlooked by NBA peers

Utah Jazz are among the top teams in the NBA this season, and Golden State head coach Steve Kerr thinks they are overlooked at times, as many analysts tend to refer mostly to the Lakers, Nets and Warriors as title favorites.

Steve Kerr believes Utah could be a huge obstacle in any team’s title hopes and deserves more attention. The Jazz are the only franchise that ranks above the Warriors in net rating.

(per Connor Letourneau of SF Chronicle):

“I think they’re overlooked by a lot of people, just because they haven’t broken through,” Kerr said of the Jazz. “Phoenix was overlooked last year. A lot of people didn’t buy Phoenix’s success, and they went to the Finals.

“I’m a huge believer in Utah, and their ability to get stops with (Rudy) Gobert protecting the paint. Then offensively, they execute like crazy. They shoot a lot of 3’s. They put you in a lot of difficult positions.”

The Jazz can be considered among the teams they could have a playoff breakthrough this year. They are also one of the best teams in keeping a continuity in their roster, which is headlined by Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert.

“I’m just flattered that we are being considered a threat to Utah and Phoenix,” Kerr said. “I mean, we haven’t made the playoffs the last two years.

It’s good to be back in the mix. Utah’s been in the mix for five, six years in a row. They are perennially one of the best teams in the league.”
