James Worthy breaks down Lakers final play vs. Grizzlies

With 10 seconds left to play in the fourth quarter, the Los Angeles Lakers were down by 3 points against the Memphis Grizzlies as LeBron James tried to initiate offense.

The four-time NBA champion passed the ball to Malik Monk, who passed it back to James, who then tried to pass it to Russell Westbrook, but it ended with a turnover. Memphis then scored two free-throws to seal a 5-point win (104-99).

James Worthy, who won three NBA championships as a Laker, broke down the final play by the purple and gold. “They like to come and set that tape with Monk or Ellington or whoever. That time the defense really got to Monk and after that the decision making was just not good,” he said on Spectrum SportsNet.

“Right here LeBron’s trying to get to where I think he can hit the three and kind of stumbles and from that point it’s just a turnover. Turnovers down the stretch even before they got to this play really hurt them. They had the game kind of in a place where they could win it, I think turnovers and second possessions there were three or four possessions in a row where they allowed some turnovers. But that last possession you got to get a better shot.”
