Eric Gordon rumors: Rockets veteran included on trade targets by Knicks

The New York Knicks are rumored to possibly pursue Houston Rockets veteran Eric Gordon.

In a report provided by Marc Berman of the New York Post, Gordon is in consideration of the Knicks’ ‘long list of potentially available players’ to target for a trade this season.

“Gordon is on a long list of potentially available players the Knicks have talked about internally, according to a source. The 3-point shooting guard isn’t a fit for the rebuilding Rockets, as he turns 33 on Christmas Day.”

Gordon has a strong connection with New York’s point guard Derrick Rose, wherein the two were teammates in AAU way back from 2006. This might be a possible factor, per Berman, to pursue the sixth man gunner.

As the Knicks continue their rusty season with a 13-17 record, Gordon may boost the squad for a possible acquisition with his two-way ability in the game. A bulky shooting guard who can also navigate the ball, he is a fireball catch-and-shoot catapult and an aggressive inside attacker. If healthy, he is a trustworthy player to lean on – a clear testament of what he supplied as a backup scorer behind superstar James Harden from 2017 to 2020.

The Rockets are currently leaning on the development of their youth program bannered by Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun, and Kevin Porter Jr. Since the rebuild started, the 32-year-old Gordon expressed his openness to be shipped on a title contender. Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle stated recently that Houston “appears willing to be patient” on the guard’s situation.

Gordon is currently averaging 15.1 points, 2.9 assists in 48.4 percent efficiency from the floor this 2021-2022 campaign. The first Sixth Man of the Year winner in the Rockets franchise history, he has one more guaranteed season in his contract, added by a $20.9 million non-guaranteed salary in 2023-2024.
