Danny Ainge returns to the NBA a few months after his decision to step down from president of Basketball operations of the Boston Celtics.

This time, Ainge joins the Utah Jazz and will be the new CEO of the franchise. The veteran executive will oversee the team’s basketball operations.

“Rarely do you get an opportunity to come into a franchise that is this close to being a special team. It’s a very unique opportunity,” Ainge told Tim MacMahon of ESPN.

After 18 years as Celtics boss (2003-2021), Danny Ainge took some time off to rest and decompress. Now, he has his sights set on helping the Jazz climb to the top of the league. Utah currently is third in the West (19-7), having won their last seven games.
