Jerami Grant will not be able to help the Detroit Pistons improve their NBA record for some time, as he has been ruled out indefinitely after tearing ligaments in his right thumb.

The news was first reported by Shams Charania and James Edward III of The Athletic. Grant appeared to suffer the injury during Friday’s 109-93 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.

He has been Detroit’s most consistent player for the first two months of the season, averaging 20.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 24 games.

Grant has one more year left on his contract at $20.995M. Trey Lyles may receive more playing time at the power forward position with Grant out.
