After packing his bag and waving goodbye to the Boston Celtics upon an 18-year memorable partnership, Danny Ainge remains interested in acquiring a new opportunity with one of the rest of the teams around the league.

In an interview with NBC Sports Boston, the former long-time team president told Chris Forberg that he is not done yet handling executive jobs, but reiterated that the franchise he’ll work for shall be in the right situation with him.

“I’m not closing the book on other opportunities, but it’d have to be the right situation,” Ainge said. “I’d have to be working with the right people in the right role. I don’t want to get back into 18-hour days. I don’t think that’s in anyone’s best interest for that matter.

“But I know how much work it takes to be good at the job.” Ainge further claimed that he got the tools to lead and help a ball club. Nevertheless, he said that he will just depend on what offer will be given to him.

“At the same time, I have 40 years of experience in the NBA and I think I have a lot to offer some team that might see me as a helper to people in the organization. But yeah, just depending on what the role is.”

Ainge passed the C’s basketball operations helm to Brad Stevens after last season, ending a productive stint serving the Bean town fans. Notably in his tenure, he gained the service of all-time greats Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen to unite with franchise player Paul Pierce before the 2007-2008 campaign, leading the Celtics to their glorious championship run and raising the 17th title banner.

Ainge is a hot name being rumored to ink a deal and seek collaboration with other squads in the NBA. After being linked in the offseason, the Portland Trail Blazers were reportedly uninterested in hiring him after axing Neil Olshey.
