Bayern Munich hoping to return to winning ways vs LDCL ASVEL

Bayern Munich is set to face ASVEL Villeurbanne for Round 13 of the EuroLeague on Thursday night at home. The German Cup winners will try to bounce back from a loss to the EuroLeague powerhouse CSKA Moscow the previous week.

“We have a lot of respect for Villeurbanne, they are playing an excellent season so far, and we are facing a very, very difficult challenge,” said head coach Andrea Trinchieri.

The French club has already snatched seven wins in the first 12 games of the 2021-22 regular season, being in the conversation for a playoff spot.

“They have a lot of athleticism and individual quality. One of our tasks will be to control their great quality in one-on-one in defense. But that is far from everything, given their offensive talent. We have to perform as a cohesive team.”

Bayern will face another contest without Leon Radosevic and Paul Zipser, who are both recovering from long-term issues. The German club will face James Gist, who spent the last season in Munich.

“This is an extremely tough opponent and an important game for both teams, especially for us because we have a home game,” said guard Ognjen Jaramaz.

“After the tough loss in Moscow, where we played very well, a win would of course be valuable. But it’s going to be a very physical game and we’ll have to get the maximum out of ourselves already all together.”

Bayern faced some setbacks during the start of the season, due to injuries, but, Andrea Trinchieri and co. will look to add to their winning total hoping to make the postseason for the second time in a row.
