There was a discussion around John Wall potentially returning to the Houston Rockets lineup, however the former All-Star point guard’s situation won’t change, according to the latest reports.

NBA analyst Jordan Schultz reported that Wall’s situation won’t change because he sees himself as the No. 1 option on the team, but the 31-year-old called the report “a lie”.

Both Houston and Wall agreed to help each other find a trade partner. The Rockets acquired Wall last season in a deal that sent Russell Westbrook to the Wizards. In 40 games for Houston, Wall averaged 20.6 points and 6.9 assists.

Wall signed a four-year contract extension worth $170 million with the Washington Wizards in 2017 and is owed $91.7 million over the next two seasons.

The Rockets are in a rebuilding state, being last in the Western Conference with a 3-16 record. Houston has been developing its young core, led by Jalen Green, who was the No.2 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.

Houston is on a two-game winning streak and the Rockets will go for their third straight win Monday vs the Oklahoma City Thunder.
