In spite of the 141-140 tightly contested loss in a showdown against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night, the Philadelphia 76ers’ hub remains ecstatic on the comeback of franchise player Joel Embiid.
Embiid, after missing nine straight games due to COVID-19 protocols, feasted hard after the long layoff — finishing the 2OT thriller with 42 markers, 14 rebounds, 3 dimes and 2 blocks in 45 minutes.
Doing a post-game interview, the star big man thought that he wasn’t going to make it through the recovery. And now finally suiting up, he then expressed his gratitude and considered the 45-minute logging as a “miracle”.
“I really thought I wasn’t going to make it. It was that bad.”
Embiid didn’t even shy away from his humorous side, as he cracked up a joke in front of the media to spice up his COVID experience.
The Cameroonian center further took the full responsibility of the loss after teammate guard Tyrese Maxey initially acknowledged the impactful turnover it made.
Prior to Embiid’s media availability, Tobias Harris and Sixers head coach Doc Rivers have separately expressed their happiness with regards to the four-time All-star’s healing — a positive indication that the squad is ready to roll forward.
After the defeat, Philadelphia slid down in the 10th place of the Eastern Conference, tied with the Boston Celtics for a 10-10 record.
The Sixers will try to re-emerge on their second-straight home stand as the Orlando Magic will pay a visit to the Wells Fargo Center on Monday.
