Russell Westbrook on Lakers’ weak start vs. Knicks

The Los Angeles Lakers avoided a trend of having a poor third quarter against the New York Knicks. Instead, the purple and gold came out weak and lost the first quarter by 16 points (20-36).

They were able to come back and get close to winning, but it wasn’t enough as the Knicks celebrated a six-point win. After the game, Lakers star Russell Westbrook, who had a triple-double of 31 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists, was asked if he was surprised by his team’s effort at the start of the game.

“Surprised? No team want to come out down 10-0,” Westbrook said postgame. “But it’s a long game. But we fought back and gave ourselves a chance.”
