Kevin Garnett reveals his personal ideal starting lineup

Kevin Garnett is one of the game’s greatest players. He was considered one of a kind during his playing days who arguably paved the way for entries of modern prototype big men we are watching today — can smash the scoreboard, anchor his team with that unparalleled defensive prowess, grab the boards tremendously, and even navigate the ball like a guard. He was a fearsome opponent to deal with due to his feisty basketball approach and competitive nature during his 20-year illustrious career, highlighted by a 2004 league MVP award and a glimmering championship jewelry as one of the leaders of 2008 Boston Celtics.

Speaking of competitiveness, the Big Ticket has its own standards, whether it is business or other certain fields outside of the four corners of a court. Now happily retired and enjoying the glorious moments of his era and the current ones, he provided his very own ideal starting lineup — rooted from his fruitful experience, knowledge about playing and sheer intensity.

Joining the ‘Million Dollaz Worth of Game’ podcast for tons of discussions, the all-time power forward opened up about his desired entry five. For his point guard, Garnett didn’t hesitate to say the iconic Los Angeles Laker, Magic Johnson.

“Magic at 1, just cause he’s 6’9″,” KG said.

Garnett initially said the legendary Michael Jordan as his shooting guard, but quickly replaced his answer and chose the late great Kobe Bryant. He said that he was also looking for a “taller team” that’s why he can’t consider The Answer, Allen Iverson.

“I gotta go MJ… matter of fact, imma put Kobe in my 2. Kobe gonna be my 2; I got Kobe at my 2. I know you gon’ say MJ, I’m supposed to do that. Shoutout to MJ cause he the god and we copied him and sh*t, but I got Kobe at my 2.

I really wanna put AI here somewhere but I’m looking for a taller team cause we gonna switch everything, you know what I’m saying?”

And then he proceeded to pick two-time Finals MVP Kevin Durant, himself and the towering phenom Wilt Chamberlain for his small forward, power forward and center — satisfying his need for a lengthy five.

” So Imma put KD at my 3,” Garnett said.” “KD, he’s like a real fade, you know what I’m saying?

“And then Imma go with Wilt. I’m going with Stilt at 5. I’m playing the 4. 3s, 4s, 5s switching everything. That’s how I’m coming.”

The players that the hall of famer have given are truly special with their god-given talent and generational abilities. It will always remain subjective based on his creativity and outlook for the game. As such, no one should question the preferences of Garnett — a man who is definite to his basketball knowledge and abilities.

Garnett’s jersey #5 will be raised on TD Garden’s rafters to join the fellow historic numbers that became pieces of the Celtics’ rich legacy on March 13.
