LOOK: Wizards’ Rui Hachimura doing shootaround in the practice building, seen by the media for the first time

The Rui Hachimura situation in D.C. is going through a smooth and stirring transition.

And the latest update on the rising star may seem to squash all speculations and doubts in his availability moving forward.

NBC Sports Washingtons’ Chase Hughes reported that Hachimura took part in a practice shootaround on Saturday, and the photo he captured presents the action.

It is actually the first time that the media have seen the Japanese sensation.

Added by Hughes, head coach Wes Unseld Jr. told reporters that Hachimura even joined his teammates in the shooting drills — a good sign of chemistry building.

Hachimura remains unavailable in participating in team activities since September, wherein he took an indefinite leave due to personal reasons which caused him to miss the team’s training camp, preseason, and season opener.

Earlier this month, Unseld Jr. claimed that the third-year pro has no timetable to play yet, but then clarified that the return “will be sooner than later”. Hachimura was seen having meaningful time with his teammates prior to the statement.

“I don’t have a timetable, but I would agree with [‘sooner rather than later’]. “He’s been around more, he’s working out, so it’s good to have him in the building and be present.”

On Wednesday, Hachimura was announced to work out with Capital City Go-Go, the G League affiliate of Wizards — obviously a big leap in reaching the NBA floor once again.

Hachimura has a career average of 13.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists in his campaign as a pro. Wizards hold a 10-5 card without his on-court presence this season.
