Cavaliers announce Collin Sexton is out for the season after undergoing knee surgery

Cleveland Cavaliers scoring guard Collin Sexton will remain out for the rest of the season, after undergoing knee surgery for a meniscus tear, as announced by the team on Friday.

Sexton got hurt in the second quarter of the 126-109 victory over the New York Knicks on Nov. 7. The Cleveland Cavaliers announced on Nov. 8 that the 22-year-old suffered a left knee injury and would be out indefinitely.

Sexton averaged 16.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists in 11 games this season. The Alabama product was coming off a career season with the Cavaliers.

He averaged 24.3 points on 47 percent along with 4.4 assists during the 2020-21 season. But, he wasn’t able to turn around Cleveland’s franchise, as the team has not made the playoffs in the last three seasons.
