Jayson Tatum reflects on the history of Lakers-Celtics rivalry

Boston Celtics could get past the Atlanta Hawks, despite the big performance of Jayson Tatum on Wednesday night. The Celtics hope to bounce back against the Lakers Friday at home.

Tatum reflected on the history of the rivalry of the two teams after the contest vs the Hawks. The Celtics (7-8) are facing the Lakers (8-8) Friday, with both teams having almost identical records so far this season.

(via Brian Robb of MassLive):

“I think that game is special,” Tatum said. “Just, obviously, everyone knows the history between the two franchises. And I’ve been fortunate enough to be a part of that going on five years now.

And I obviously understand who they have on their team – and especially in somebody like LeBron that is one of the best to play this game – so obviously as a kid those are the matchups that you dreamed about and you don’t take for granted when you get the opportunity because as a competitor you love games and you love moments like that.”

LeBron James could be available to play in Friday’s contest after a 10-game absence due to an abdominal strain. The same goes for the Celtics, who expect to have Jaylen Brown, as he’s nearing his return from a hamstring strain.

The Lakers fell to 8-8 on the year after losing to the defending champions in Milwaukee on Wednesday night. They are 4-6 in their last ten games with James sidelined.

At the same time, Boston has fallen back under .500 at 7-8 with an 11-point loss to the Hawks in Atlanta on Wednesday.
