Kyle Kuzma on playing for the Wizards: “This is kind of what I wanted. An opportunity to not be in someone’s shadows”

Kyle Kuzma is enjoying his role with the Washington Wizards, which is different to the one he had with the Lakers.

Kuzma called playing for Washington ‘a fun opportunity’ and likes the fact that he is not in ‘someone’s shadows’.

“Being here has been an extremely fun opportunity to come in and lead, and use my championship backgrond. I know everything I’ve learned from those two guys in LA. This is kind of what I wanted. An opportunity to not be in someone’s shadows,” the young forward told Malika Andrews of ESPN.

Kuzma used to be the third scoring option for the Lakers behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis. However, his role is different with the Wizards and he is enjoying it, as Washington is on top of the East (10-3).

Kyle Kuzma is averaging 14.5 points and 9.1 rebounds in 13 games with Washington. He joined the Wizards in exchange for Russell Westbrook, along with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Montrezl Harrell.
