Boston Celtics point guard Dennis Schroder remains faithful to his teammate and All-star Jayson Tatum, despite its rough performances so far this season.
Speaking post-game after the Cs came up short against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday, Schroder said he will always support Tatum through all the ups and downs, even mentioning the 23-year-old’s positive work ethic and attitude.
“End of the day, he’s doing everything right. He’s working. He’s doing everything, every day – going into the gym, being the first guy in, last guy out. You’re taking him all day, I’m taking him all day. I’d go to war with him. He’s going to figure it out.”
The German guard isn’t even concerned about the disappointing loss, wherein they blew a 19-point margin against the young Cleveland team.
“Sometimes you blow a lead and you lose a game. It happens.”
Tatum continues to have a rough showing for the Cs, tallying 21 markers in abysmal 36 percent shooting, four boards and six turnovers on the recent road defeat. In his 12 games with the 6-7 Boston so far, he’s been having an inefficient 39 percent field goal shooting — enclosed to the 23.8 points he is averaging.
It may seem to be that the 17-time champs are in a rough start, but optimism still exists as they are adjusting into the new system.
Beantown will try to claw one in a rematch against the Cavs on Monday.
