Real Madrid prevailed in Valencia 99-87 in the league’s most anticipated game of the week.

The key moment happened in the third quarter when Real was able to get a double digit lead for the first time in the game. Valencia tried to rally in the final period, but Real was able to control the rest of the game easily.

Felipe Reyes led Real to a win with 23 points. Jaycee Carroll had 16, while both Rodrigez and Llull scored 13. Vladimir Lučić paced Valencia with 18 points.

Unicaja Malaga managed to stay at top of the table with a narrow 76-72 win against Gipuzkoa Basket. Unicaja had four players in double digits led by Vladimir Golubović who had 16. David Doblas scored 11 for Gipuzkoa.

In another anticipated clash in the league, Barcelona eased past Juventut on the road 99-61 in the Catalan derby.

Barca managed to keep up with Real Madrid who is two wins ahead of them in the table.

It was a one side affair from the beginning as Barcelona achieved a comfortable lead in the first quarter and never let up. Mario Hezonja and Justin Doellman led Barca with 16 points each, while Demond Mallet had 12 for the home team.

Sevilla had an upset of the week with a huge win against Bilbao Basket 80-69. This win puts them a win over relegation zone, as they now have 6-15 record on the season.

Nikola Radičević and Kirk Penney each had 16 for the winning side and Alex Mumbru scored 16 for Bilbao. Bilbao now has the same record as Barcelona with 15-6.

Elsewhere around the league Laboral Kutxa won a close one against relegation zone Manresa, 71-64. Fuenlabrada managed to hold off Estudiantes run in the fourth quarter as they won 93-84 behind Steve Burtt’s big game as he scored 29 points.

Zaragoza won a close one against Murcia in a battle of the teams from middle of the table 75-71. Tenerife crushed Obradorio 77-53, and Gran Canaria won comfortably against Morabanc Andorra 90-81.
