Malik Monk talks about his big game vs Heat

Malik Monk had a team-high 27 points for the Los Angeles Lakers in a win over the Miami Heat, despite coming off the bench. After the game, he talked about being familiar to a role where needs to step up in absence of other players.

“Just to attack, man,” the 23-year-old shooting guard said. “I had this role a couple of times in Charlotte last year, year before that when a lot of guys get hurt and I had to come in and play big minutes and facilitate and do other things that I normally don’t do. But I work on my game a lot so I was really prepared for this moment.”

Lakers newcomer also said his teammates are giving him confidence regardless of how much playing time he gets. “They always give me confidence whether I’m playing 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes. They always get me confident,” he said.

“So I’m always confident when I go in the game. I always kind of had the same mindset because you never know what’s going to happen throughout this game. So I just stay locked in try to be prepared for every situation.”
