First off, congratulations to San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, for reaching 1,000 wins, a feat made even more incredible as he has done it with a single team.

It slightly easier to achieve the milestone in the NBA than in the NCAA due to the volume of games, but praise where it is due.

So, where does today’s gossip column land us?

SILVER ON LETTERMAN

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver stopped by the set of the “Late Show With David Letterman” Monday, ostensibly to promote the NBA All-Star Weekend in New York.

Letterman grilled his guest (in a friendly way) on a number of subjects. Have a watch:

D-WADE OUT OF ALL-STAR GAME

And Adam Silver is going to be needed again as Miami Heat have announced via Twitter that Dwyane Wade will miss the All-Star Game and possibly a couple more weeks due to a hamstring injury.

So no catch-up on the court with LeBron.

DAVIS 50/50

New Orleans Pelicans’ Anthony Davis is also listed as doubtful for next week’s All-Star Game.

Via ESPN:

The Pelicans have officially listed Davis as questionable for Wednesday night’s game.

If Davis heals in time, he’ll make his second All-Star appearance and first All-Star start in Sunday night’s showcase at Madison Square Garden.

There are a number of injury-related uncertainties leading into All-Star Weekend apart from Davis, with East starter Carmelo Anthony (knee) weighing whether he’s healthy enough to play and East reserve Dwyane Wade (hamstring) officially ruling himself out of All-Star duty Tuesday.

It’s widely believed that Anthony will ultimately find a way to play for the East All-Stars, given how much he’s been looking forward to serving as one of the faces of the weekend, with Anthony’s 10-42 New York Knicks co-hosting all of the All-Star festivities ‎with the Brooklyn Nets.

But Wade has missed Miami’s last six games and NBA commissioner Adam Silver will need to name a replacement.

It’s the commissioner’s privilege to pick injury replacements, and Silver is expected to choose between Atlanta’s Kyle Korver, Milwaukee’s Brandon Knight, Orlando’s Nikola Vucevic and Charlotte’s Al Jefferson when he names a fill-in for Wade, perhaps as soon as Tuesday afternoon.

NICK YOUNG: A DOLPHIN TRIED TO KILL ME

You can’t make it up sometimes.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick “Swaggy P” Young is afraid of dolphins apparently. How it popped up in a conversation, we don’t know. Rachel Nichols does though.
