The NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks are loaded and determined for a chance to repeat. Currently holding a 3-1 card in this 75th season of the league, they may seem to finally get rid of the title hangover — three months after reaching the basketball summit within 50 long years of waiting.
On their sustaining reign as kings of the NBA, the thing that shines through for them is the tight bond of each and everyone within the lineup — and the Khris Middleton-Jrue Holiday connection continues to blossom as time goes by.
As we all know, Middleton and main man Giannis Antetokounmpo were there through the ups and downs of the franchise since 2013, and Holiday just arrived in Milwaukee last season. As such, the chemistry and friendship building was an easy process for them to develop — which saw them winning the ultimate prize.
In a virtual meeting way back in the first preseason game of the Bucks, Antetokounmpo was asked about the brotherhood between Middleton and Holiday.
“Oh yeah, [their relationship], it’s grown a lot,” Antetokounmpo said. “They sit next to each other in the locker room now. Yeah, they go out to dinners. Dates and stuff.”
“Hey, you sound jealous, man. [Are] you all right?” Middleton inquired from the background.
“I’m not jealous,” Antetokounmpo said, while smiling.
Becoming ring buddies to gold-clinching Olympians in Tokyo, the two have come a long way as the present foundational support of the Bucks empire. Sitting beside Giannis atop, they are set to create their very own dynasty and dominate the NBA landscape for years to come. Through smiles and sadness, glory and pain, they will continue to use growth and fellowship as fuels for much greater heights of success.
Having no drama that surrounds them, unlike their co-contenders in the East — Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers — the Bucks are certainly committed for long-term success and addressing the lapses with eagerness to progress. They are a force to reckon with — who have a legitimate chance to hold the trophy for two consecutive years.
Milwaukee will face Karl Anthony-Towns and the arriving Minnesota Timberwolves tomorrow to start their three-game home stand.
