Russell Westbrook praises young Spurs: ‘They’re going to be a tough program for a lot of years’

After a 125-121 narrow overtime dub, Los Angeles Lakers star Russell Westbrook tipped his hat off on the young and talented San Antonio Spurs.

As per Paul Garcia of Project Spurs, the six-foot-four guard said that the young nucleus of Silver and Black are tough and will be a problem for years to come.

“These guys are young, fast, athletic. I still see Pop, so they’re still well-coached and they know how to play the game. They’re tough. They’re going to be a tough program for a lot of years. They’ve orchestrated their team very well — a lot of young guys that want to compete. They played hard tonight, as you could see. It was a good game.”

Dejounte Murray and Lonnie Walker IV had 21 points apiece, while big man Jakob Poeltl tallied 27 points and 14 boards, but these weren’t enough to take down the much-experienced Lakers behind the 68 combined markers of Westbrook and Anthony Davis.

The two squads are set for a rematch on November 14 inside the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA.
