Sacramento Kings’ sharpshooter Buddy Hield could be considered gone by the trade deadline, according to an NBA executive, who recently spoke to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype about Hield’s future.

The news did not come as a surprise at all, as Sacramento came close to package Hield for Lakers’ Kyle Kuzma and Montrezl Harrell this past summer.

“Buddy’s going to be gone,” one NBA executive told HoopsHype bluntly. “They already traded him and had a done deal.” Another executive noted Hield’s descending contract could make it more likely for him to be traded.

Hield has started the season coming off the bench as the Kings seem to have decided on using a rotation of a point-guard duo in their perimeter with De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton starting.

Scotto mentioned that the fact that Hield’s contract descends in value from $23.09 million this season to $21.21 million during the 2022-23 season then $19.32 million for the 2023-24 season could be make him an enticing piece.

So far this season, Hield has been making 37.5 percent of his three-point attempts as he scored 17, 24 and six points in the Kings’ first three games.
