Frank Vogel: “Carmelo Anthony was awesome tonight”

Carmelo Anthony exploded with 28 points in 28 minutes as he came off the bench for the Los Angeles Lakers in their first win of the season against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The 37-year-old forward not only led his team in scoring, but also reached a milestone as he passed Moses Malone on NBA All-Time points leaders list. After the game, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel praised the veteran for his performance.

“Carmelo Anthony was awesome tonight,” he said. “He didn’t crawl up to that milestone. Je blew the doors off of it. I’m super happy for him. He’s been a great culture fit with our group. Obviously really playing at a high level on the floor. He’s got a lot left in the tank and he’s really going to help us this year.”
