Austin Reaves entered the NBA this season as an undrafted player, but he was able to find a role on the Los Angeles Lakers roster, which is filled with experienced veterans.

The 23-year-old guard was able to contribute off the bench during preseason games. His regular season debut came against the Phoenix Suns. Reaves came off the bench to score 8 points in 12 minutes of play.

Ahead of the game against the Memphis Grizzlies, Lakers star Russell Westbrook talked about Reaves. “He’s very mature. He understands how to play the game. When you play hard, good things happen. I’m real testament what I stand on, like, missing, make shots, turnovers, all that stuff is part of the game.

“But when you play hard, good things eventually will happen for you For him when he checks in, he plays hard defensively, offensively and not just that he understands how to play basketball. He’s mature enough to understand and he’s done a hell of a job every time when he checked in. So really great to see that especially for him.”
