The reigning NBA World Champion Milwaukee Bucks won’t have the service of its fan-favorite player and two significant bench pieces in a highly-anticipated opening night match against the Brooklyn Nets tomorrow.
As per Bucks reporter Kane Pitman, forwards Bobby Portis, Rodney Hood, and Semi Ojeleye won’t be able to suit up in the opener.
Portis has been suffering from his left hamstring strain. A calf and leg injury bothers the newcomers Ojeleye and Hood, respectively. Shooting guard Donte DiVincenzo remains unavailable while recovering from his left ankle surgery.
For the Nets, Kyrie Irving remains shelved on team activities until prior notice after the recent announcement by general manager Sean Marks, citing the availability issue of the star guard with regards to the Covid-19 vaccine mandate of New York City.
Bucks will be bannered by its star trio of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday. Their counterpart Nets is anchored by two former Most Valuable Players in Kevin Durant and James Harden.
Before the tip-off, a ring ceremony headed by NBA commissioner Adam Silver will be conducted to honor Milwaukee’s gallant exploits last postseason, which saw them clinching the title for the second time in team history.
