Lakers could be without five players in season opener

The Los Angeles Lakers could be without several players in the season opener next Tuesday, October 19.

More specifically, five Lakers players are out or questionable for the home game against the Golden State Warriors.

Trevor Ariza and Talen Horton-Tucker are out. They both had surgery and will miss one and two months of action, respectively. For his part, Malik Monk is dealing with a groin injury that can cost him at least a week.

Furthermore, Kendrick Nunn suffered a right ankle sprain a few days ago. Lakers head coach Frank Vogel remains optimistic both players will suit up for the game.

Moreover, Wayne Ellington missed Tuesday’s preseason game vs the Warriors. He had an MRI that showed a Grade 1 hamstring strain. Therefore, his participation in the contest is in jeopardy.

The Lakers will rely on their Big 3 in the opening game vs Golden State. It is also likely Carmelo Anthony will start for the Purple and Gold.

The Lakers will battle the Sacramento Kings in their preseason finale in the NBA on Thursday (October 14).
