easyCredit BBL: Bamberg, Heidelberg maintain perfect start

Basketball Bundesliga had its moments during the first day of Round 3. Bamberg and Heidelberg remained perfect after three games, securing victories vs. Ulm and Giessen 46ers, respectively.

Bamberg was able to succeed in Ulm thanks to Christian Sengfelder, who led the Franconian team with 27 points to a 94-83 win. Johannes Roijakkers side had to play without veteran Frankie Ferrari, who announced his retirement prior to the game for health reasons.

Heidelberg survived a hard-fought battle against Giessen 46ers (68-75) to remain unbeaten in the first three games of the league. The easyCredit BBL newcomers saw Jordan Geist taking over for the Heidelberg team in the last few minutes to lead them to victory.

Geist finished the contest with 28 points, on 8-of-13 shooting and 9-of-10 from the free throw line. In other games, Wurzburg achieved a surprising 90-88 victory over Oldenburg with Cameron Hunt making the winning play.

medi Bayreuth came away with an 86-72 victory over Niners Chemnitz, who succumbed to its first loss of the season. Anim led Bayreuth with 19 points.

BG Gottingen win an offensive showdown (90-81) against Bonn, who conceded its first defeat for the season. Gottingen saw Kamal Baldwin and Stephen Brown combining for 46 points. The Violets got the first win for the season.
