The Los Angeles Lakers veteran point guard Rajon Rondo says he nearly cried in his first preseason game back on the Lakers, via TMZ Sports:

“I almost cried again last night. It means everything. I was away for a year … came back and the reception I got last night, I had to try to focus on the game,” Rondo said.

“The love I got, the attention from the crowd getting back in the game. It was amazing.”

Rondo appeared in 45 games (three starts) for the Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Clippers last season, where he averaged 5.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in 17.1 minutes, while shooting 40.4 percent from deep.

The guard returns to the Lakers after averaging 8.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 1.0 steal in 94 games for L.A. from 2018-20 while helping the team win the 2020 NBA Championship.
