Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr shared his thoughts on the NBA changing the foul rule, which awarded players with fouls to the players who actively bump into oncoming defenders to draw contact during the shot.

Kerr admitted the change will benefit the league, as several star players used the rule to draw shooting fouls and score easy points.

Despite this causing a significant disadvantage for Steph Curry, Kerr is a considerable proponent of this rule change, as he admitted in a recent interview with Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

“The game needs it. If we’re making calls in the NBA that would literally start fights in a pickup game, a fight is going to ensue. If we’re making those calls in the NBA, when we couldn’t get through a pickup game, then we’re doing something wrong,” said Kerr.

Steph Curry was the first to experience the change of the rule in the preseason game vs. the Portland Trail Blazers. Curry pumped into the defender but didn’t get a foul call awarded to him.

There are many star players, who will be affected by the new rule, as Trey Young, James Harden and Luka Doncic were getting those type of calls during the last few seasons.
