Day One Of 2021 NBA Preseason: Under-The-Radar Players Who Stood Out

2021 NBA Preseason tipped off last night with the Brooklyn Nets vs. Los Angeles Lakers.

Players like Cam Thomas, Malik Monk and Day’Ron Sharpe played very well off the bench.

Brooklyn Nets

Cam Thomas: Thomas looked extremely confident on offense. Can definitely make an impact right away with his scoring. 21 points, 7-14 FG

Day’Ron Sharpe: Rookie big man out of UNC who brings consistency on both ends. Had an impressive outing last night. 13 points, 6 rebounds

Paul Millsap: Millsap is a veteran you can always count on. Showed off his polished basketball IQ vs. the Lakers. 10 points, 10 rebounds

Bruce Brown: Brown started in 37 games for the Nets last season. Continues to get better every year. 12 points, 5-9 FG

LaMarcus Aldridge: The veteran missed out on the 2021 playoffs due to a heart issue. Aldridge is now back and ready to make an impact. 6 points, 3 assists

David Duke: Versatile undrafted rookie out of Providence. Also put up 3 steals and 2 assists. 13 points, 7 rebounds

Sekou Doumbouya: Still only 20-years-old with potential to keep expanding his game. Can give Brooklyn a spark when needed. 11 points, 3-3 FG

DeAndre’ Bembry: Plays hard every second he’s on the court. Brings experience over from Atlanta and Toronto. 8 points, 5 rebounds

Jevon Carter: Can be trusted to defend and knock down three point shots. Makes the right plays. 8 points, 2-4 3-PT

Devontae Cacok: Former Laker who signed with the Nets on September 20th. Energy has stood out in short minutes during the last two seasons. 9 points, 4-5 FG

Kessler Edwards: Rookie with NBA skills on both ends. Played his college basketball at Pepperdine. 9 points, 5 rebounds

Los Angeles Lakers

Malik Monk: Monk can help LA this season in a big way with his scoring ability. Looked very comfortable making plays on offense last night. 15 points, 3-6 3PT

DeAndre Jordan: Pick & roll play, lob catching, rebounding, and shot blocking have always been there. Brings an energetic presence in the paint when called on. 7 points, 3 blocks

Kendrick Nunn: Nunn had a solid run with the Miami Heat from 2019-2021. All about winning. 9 points, 7 rebounds

Talen Horton-Tucker: Powerful guard with ball handling skills. Confident player who competes hard on both ends. 10 points, 3 assists

Dwight Howard: Howard’s screening and rebounding were solid last night. Averaged 8.4 RPG in just 17.3 MPG last season. 11 points, 6 rebounds

Wayne Ellington: Shooter who moves very well without the ball. Keeps the game simple. 11 points, 3-3 FT

Kent Bazemore: Bazemore makes winning plays and knows his role. Basketball IQ is at a high level. 5 points, 3 assists

Chaundee Brown: Undrafted rookie guard out of Wake Forest/Michigan. Looked impressive at Summer League when it came to strength and shooting. 10 points, 2-4 3-PT

Cam Oliver: Played hard in short minutes on Sunday. Can score both inside and out. 4 points, 2 rebounds

Trevelin Queen: Definitely has NBA skills. Led LA in PPG and SPG at Summer League in Vegas. 5 points, 3 rebounds

Austin Reaves: Didn’t shoot the ball well, but still made an impact. Defense and decision making stood out. 3 points, 2 assists
