New York Knicks have waived Argentinian guard Luca Vildoza, the team announced Sunday. Vildoza did not play any game for the Knicks, as the franchise signed the ex-Baskonia guard at the end of the last season.

Vildoza, 26, was unable to participate in the training camp, due to an ankle injury, and is expected to undergo surgery. Vildoza spent four seasons in the EuroLeague before joining the Knicks the previous season.

The Argentinian point guard picked up the ankle injury during the Summer League in Las Vegas. At the international level, he has represented Argentina at the senior level in the 2019 FIBA World Cup and the 2020 Olympic Games.

He averaged 7.0 points, 3.0 assists, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game in the Tokyo Olympics. The Argentinian national team finished seventh in the Olympic tournament.
