LeBron James played a key role in building this year’s roster of the Los Angeles Lakers. The four-time champion helped the team bring a whole bunch of accomplished veterans, including Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony.
During his media day interview, Melo was asked how James was able to assemble teams the right way throughout his career. “The way he sees the game, the way he understands how to put teams together,” the 37-year-old forward said of LeBron. “We’ve seen it throughout.. I know I’ve seen it throughout my whole career as long as I’ve known him he’s been able to put the pieces that he really needs for him to be at his best.
“You look at his teams just over the years all the teams was a lot different. Every year calls for a different type of LeBron. So I mean we don’t know what LeBron will get his year. I think that’s the exciting part ot. I do think that this team has been assembled the right way with the right pieces. It’s not just any type of players that’s meshed together.
“A lot of times when you put a group of players together, a group of talent like we have, a lot of times it doesn’t work out. But I think where we at in our careers and understanding what we have to do understanding the sacrifices that we all gonna have to take and make in order for this to work. I think that’s the beauty in the actual journey that we’re about to go on, the ups and downs.
“It ain’t gonna be great all the time.. the ups and downs, could be arguments, it’s gonna be fights.. but as long as we know what time it is, that we got each other’s back go on the wall with each other and that’s the only thing that matters.”
