Alex Caruso left the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason for the Chicago Bulls. The 27-year-old guard spent four years with the purple and gold before moving on. During his time in LA he made a name for himself in the league and won a championship in 2020.

Lakers GM Rob Pelinka says that the team made an “aggressive attempt” to re-sign Caruso who became a free agent this past summer. This statement contradicts earlier reports that the 17-time NBA champions did not make a serious effort to keep fan-favorite guard.

According to Pelinka, the Lakers pursued Caruso but it was the player who decided to go the other way. “Alex was tremendous here as a championship player,” he said, per Kyle Goon.

This past season Caruso averaged 6.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game for the Lakers.
