Los Angeles Lakers set the goal to return to the top of the league after a disappointing 2020-21 season campaign. Lakers’ general manager believes the franchise made all the right moves to achieve its goals.

The Lakers added a primary playmaker in Russell Westbrook, while they signed more shooters to surround Anthony Davis, LeBron James, and Westbrook.

At the same time, they tried to improve their rim-protection and rebounding by signing DeAndre Jordan and Dwight Howard. Pelinka explained the Lakers’ goals during the offseason.

“One was adding a primary playmaker,” he explained. “Two was shooting. And three was shifting back to, especially defensively, a model of two rebounding, defensive centers like we had when we won the championship in 2020. Those were the goals we had in mind, and I think if you look at the complexion of the roster, we feel like we addressed each of those three goals. We feel good about that.”

The Lakers could add one more player in a minimum deal, while they will keep the 15th spot of the roster open for a potential mid-season signing.

The LA franchise seems ready to enter the new season, which is less than a month away. Frank Vogel and his team will have the chance to bounce back after a mediocre season.
