Kendrick Perkins says Ben Simmons and Draymond Green are ‘basically the same player’

ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins had another hot take during his recent appearance in ESPN’s The Jump. Perkins claimed Ben Simmons is basically a more athletic version of Draymond Green.

Both Simmons and Green are considered great defenders, but their mentality is different, especially when it comes to doing all the right things to win.

Green has also established himself as a great leader, showing up whenever his team needs him. The veteran forward was a crucial part of the Warriors during their 2015-2019 postseason runs.

On the other hand, Simmons has yet to make a big contribution for the Philadelphia 76ers in the postseason. During the 2020-21 campaign, he was among the best and most versatile defenders in the league.

However, in the 2021 playoff run with the Philadelphia 76ers, he was disappointing due to his inability to play a meaningful role in the team’s offense.

Simmons does not want to return to Philly this year, demanding a trade from the 76ers. The Warriors were reportedly among the teams that could be interested in the three-time All-Star at the start of the offseason.

The Warriors’ governor Joe Lacob denied that the franchise will make any move for Simmons, as the Sixers’ star does not fit Golden State’s plan this season.
