Los Angeles Lakers sharpshooter Wayne Ellington explained the reason he joined the LA franchise, claiming that he considered signing with the Nets before joining the Lakers.

The veteran guard appeared on “Noble and Roosh Show” podcast on Monday and discussed his rather brief free agency and return to the Lakers.

“There was some teams I looked at. Brooklyn was one. Brooklyn was one. But LA was just, it was too good of a situation for me. Obviously, Brooklyn already has some shooters that do some similar things like I do in Joe Harris and a couple of other guys as well that they have. It was an easy decision for me.”

Ellington, a solid three-point shooter, is expected to have an important role in the Lakers’ rotation this season, especially with Russell Westbrook running the point.

Last season, the UNC product shot an average of 42.2 percent from deep in 46 games with the Detroit Pistons. He has a career average of 38.2 percent in 4.1 attempts per contest.

With the trio of Westbrook, James, and Davis, the Lakers will need to configure their spacing for their various lineups. Ellington’s ability to consistently score from beyond the arc will come in hand for Frank Vogel.
