Mike James officially became a free agent, after agreeing to part ways with CSKA Moscow, the team announced Saturday.

James spent the second part of the 2020-21 season with the Brooklyn Nets. He started the year with the EuroLeague giants, being among the top performers in the competition.

The scoring guard signed an extension with CSKA during the 2020 offseason, that it was expected to keep him in Moscow until 2023.

However, James was suspended indefinitely by CSKA Moscow in March 2020 following an incident with team head coach Dimitris Itoudis.

James was averaging a then-competition-high 19.3 points, along with 5.7 assists and 3.1 rebounds in 31 minutes per contest in EuroLeague.

He appeared in 13 games with the Nets during the regular season, averaging 7.7 points and 4.5 assists per contest. He also had nine postseason games under his belt, putting up 3.7 points in 11 minutes per contest.
