Pacers’ Edmond Sumner suffers torn Achilles

Indiana Pacers guard Edmond Sumner has sustained a torn left Achilles during an offseason workout today, the team announced.

He will be out indefinitely and updates will be provided as necessary.

Achilles injuries typically have a recovery timetable of 12 months.

Sumner was getting ready to enter his fifth NBA season and is in the final year of his contract.

In 53 games last season (24 starts), the 25-year-old averaged a career-high 7.5 points and 1.8 rebounds per game in 16.2 minutes per game, also a career-high.

Back in April, Sumner had back-to-back games where he scored 22 points and 21 points, respectively, against the Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic.

This is a tough blow for the Pacers who also got news that T.J. Warren is struggling to recover from a stress fracture in his foot and remains out indefinitely.
