Former NBA guard Darren Collison will work out for the Golden State Warriors this week, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

The Warriors would have to make room to ultimately sign Collison by waiving one of their non-guaranteed contracts.

The three players currently on non-guaranteed contracts include Damion Lee, Mychal Mulder and Gary Payton II.

Collison last played 76 games with the Indiana Pacers in the 2018-19 NBA season where he averaged 11.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

The 34-year-old then retired from playing, citing family and religious reasons.

Collison was rumored to have interest from teams including the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers in the 2019-20 season before it went on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He eventually came out and said that those reports were “overhyped” and that he wasn’t thinking about coming back.

Earlier this summer, Collison worked out with the Lakers, along with Isaiah Thomas and Mike James.

In 708 career games, Collison averaged 12.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
