Jason Kidd talks on relationship with Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo had a strong bond with the current Dallas Mavericks’ head coach Jason Kidd from the time he was in Milwaukee.

Kidd was asked about the book regarding Giannis’ emergence as an MVP-caliber player with the Milwaukee Bucks, “Giannis: The Improbable Rise of an NBA MVP”.

The book portrays Kidd as someone who Antetokounmpo didn’t like during his time in charge of the Milwaukee Bucks. Kidd responded to the claim by talking about his relationship with the 2021 NBA champion.

(via Yahoo Sports):

“Did Giannis write it?” Kidd said when I asked him if he had read it. “I’m waiting for Giannis for when he writes it,” Kidd continued. “I’m aware of [the book], but if it’s not from Giannis I won’t pay attention to it.”

“There are no feelings about it because it was not Giannis’ book. The cool thing is my relationship with Giannis goes beyond basketball,” Kidd said. “I talked to him a couple of hours after his son was born. Cool little name, ‘Maverick.’

“See, you guys didn’t know that. That’s how close we are.”

Kidd was the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks from 2014 through the middle of the 2017-’18 season. He played a big role in developing the Bucks’ superstar to the player he is today.

Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks will enter the upcoming season as the NBA reigning champions after an epic postseason from the two-time MVP and his teammates.
