The Group D game today between Cameroon and South Sudan has been declared a forfeit in South Sudan’s favor due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

Two Cameroon players registered positive tests upon arrival to Kigali, Rwanda on Aug. 22.

Those players were asymptomatic.

Two other players then tested positive, as well as a training staff member, the Cameroon basketball federation announced.

The game was awarded to South Sudan with a score of 20-0 and Cameroon will receive zero classification points.

Further testing is being carried out for Cameroon.

FIBA will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation and communicate any further updates regarding the subject if necessary, they announced.

If there are no more positive tests, the hope is that Cameroon will be able to play their final two group games against Uganda and Senegal on Aug. 27 and Aug. 29, respectively.
