Groups drawn for FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Pre-Qualifiers First Round

The groups for the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Pre-Qualifiers First Round have been confirmed and the 10 teams participating now know who they will play.

The 10 teams were placed into three groups, with two groups of three teams and one group of four teams.

The results of the draw are as follows:

FIBA

Group A: Switzerland, Austria, Cyprus, Ireland
Group B: Romania, Luxembourg, Albania
Group C: Denmark, Kosovo, Norway

Switzerland, Austria, Romania and Denmark previously competed at the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 Qualifiers, while Cyprus, Luxembourg, Albania and Kosovo previously competed at the FIBA World Cup 2023 European Pre-Qualifiers First Round.

Switzerland, Romania, Denmark and Luxembourg also played in the FIBA World Cup 2023 European Pre-Qualifiers Second Round.

Ireland was recently crowned the champions of the FIBA European Championship for Small Countries 2021, while Norway hasn’t played at the international level since the FIBA European Championship for Small Countries 2018 where they won a silver medal.

Each team will play the other teams in their group twice in a round robin format with home and away games.

The First Round of the Pre-Qualifiers will take place in three separate windows:

  • November 25-28, 2021
  • February 24-27, 2022
  • June 30 – July 3, 2022

Four teams (three group winners and the best-ranked second-placed team) will advance to the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Pre-Qualifiers Second Round which will eventually be played in August 2022, November 2022 and February 2023.
