James Harden on being a playmaker for the Nets: “It’s really the best style for me, to be honest”

James Harden shared his excitement for the role he has with the Brooklyn Nets since joining the franchise in late 2020.

Being a playmaker is the perfect role for Harden in Brooklyn, as he averaged 10.9 assists last season.

“There really wasn’t any adjustment. I still play how I play, but now I don’t have to shoot the ball so much. It’s really the best style for me, to be honest.

Kevin (Durant) and Kyrie (Irving) can always go get a bucket, and, with me as a playmaker, I can think about how to get shooters involved, how to get bigs touches, how to create open shots. My main focus is trying to get everybody involved and have each guy make an impact on the game,” Harden told Sports Illustrated’s Michael Shapiro.

Harden averaged 24.6 points last season, but the Nets got eliminated by the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the playoffs.
