Patrick Beverley, one of the top defending guards in the NBA, reportedly has the backing of LeBron James to come to the Los Angeles Lakers should he become a free agent.

According to Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, James would welcome Beverley if he secured a buyout with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The 33-year-old point guard was recently traded by the Los Angeles Clippers to the Memphis Grizzlies that in turn traded him to the T-Wolves.

The former NBA All-Defensive First Team member expressed excitement about coming to Minnesota. He has one year left on his current contract, worth around $14 million. Beverley could reach an agreement with the Timberwolves, though, and become an unrestricted free agent, which would make him available for the Lakers to sign.
