The number one pick of the 2021 NBA Draft gave his thoughts on the GOAT debate which usually revolves around Michael Jordan and LeBron James. The 19-year-old point guard, who was born two years before MJ retired, went with the Los Angeles Lakers star, who he saw playing with his own eyes.
Even though Cunningham was too young to consciously watch Jordan play, he says he saw all of his ‘stuff’ and still chooses James over him.
“It’s hard for me to put somebody ahead of LeBron cause LeBron is the best player I’ve seen with my eyes,” Cunningham said on Da Windy City with Marc Carman podcast, per Brad Sullivan of Lakers Daily. “Trust me I’ve seen all the Michael Jordan stuff, dude is different. I can’t argue with the fact that you think he is the GOAT but in my eyes I say LeBron.”
