Detroit Pistons rookie center Luka Garza will sign a two-way deal with the team, according to Shams Charania.

Garza, the No. 52 pick in this year’s draft, has had a solid performance in the NBA Summer League where he is averaging 13.5 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 blocks per game in four games (19.8 minutes per game).

As a two-way player, the 22-year-old will have the opportunity to be on the team’s active roster for no more than 50 games during the regular season, with no limit on practices, workouts or other activities with the NBA team.

Garza will join the Pistons’ promising young core that features fellow rookie Cade Cunningham, as well as second-year players Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart and Killian Hayes.

In his senior year at Iowa, Garza was named the Player of the Year in 2020-21 after averaging 24.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.6 blocks per game, while shooting 55.3 percent from the field and 44.0 percent from three-point.

The Pistons already have 15 players on guaranteed contracts and their two two-way players will be Garza and rookie Chris Smith from UCLA.
